BIOLARITY
When I first began to research the concept of Biolarity, I was reading a lot about singularity and the introduction of nanotechnology into the human body. I began to dream up ways to balance this new chaotic idea. I couldn’t stop thinking of what would happen to the technology as they eroded or malfunctioned. Would the person with nanotechnology become destroyed as well? This was how the story of Biolarity was born. Once I began forming my plot, I thought of how plants and humans could survive through a time in the future when the sun has expanded to an uninhabitable size. Could humans use the DNA of plant life to convert the sun’s energy into nourishment and provide a natural sunblock? Biolarity will allow humans the ability to survive the new world.

The setting takes place when nanotechnology has become available to the public in order to counteract the pressures of the new world. Technology has been reduced to half the size, and over time the computer chips have eroded and broken down. The humans begin a slow malfunction and become a living corpse, without feeling or remorse for their treatment of the unaltered humans. When the earth is overrun with technology and the sun is the greatest threat, the only salvation is Biolarity. This is the story of the casualties of science and to save the human race…

There are two distinct storylines intertwined within one another that the reader is absorbed into: the story of Essuel from the past and Genue of the present. They are joined together by Tonne, Essuel’s bride and Genue’s mother. Tonne is a fire-headed woman who has given her life to become human in order to save those on the earth from the exploding sun. She plants the seed for Biolarity. Essuel’s father (who remains unnamed through the duration of this book) has discovered that a new human race has been created and the new humans have the ability to feel emotions. Essuel created the new humans with starseeds, the food of his father’s people, the Inogenue. Essuel’s brother, Annuil, is responsible for telling his father the devastating events Essuel has created on Earth. The father, angry and betrayed, throws a bolt of energy at the sun causing it to expand with hopes that all who inhabit the Earth’s surface will burn under her molten grasp. Essuel returns to the earth with his bride, Tonne, to find a path to redemption, and create the new science called Biolarity, which will save the humans from the exploding sun. Through this breakthrough, the main character, Genue, is born. Genue is conceived by combining her mother’s human DNA with the plant DNA of an orchid to make up her superhuman constitution. She has the ability to absorb light rays into her flesh and retain nourishment from the air around her. She will grow into her abilities and she will learn to use her mutation to harness the sun and return it to its proper size.
All is not as well as it seems. Along with her creation, a male was made. Her brother, Sathe, was born malfunctioned. Instead of absorbing heat, his body emits a green sap of poison. Upon the order of his termination, his doctor felt unjust in killing him so she hid him away with her. He grows to become a monster with the poison touch. In his solitude, his hate and jealousy for the perfect one, his sister, grows. He spends his life following her path wanting nothing more than to kill her. He is jealous of Genue’s perfect combination of plant and human DNA. He wants to be the only one people rely on as a savior from the elements. Sathe uses the sun to activate his poison. He is pure hate where Genue represents love for all. Genue must confront her destructive brother and make the solar system right in the order of the universe. At the same time Genue and Sathe are stumbling through the tale of their lives, the story of Essuel and his brother Annuil is taking place. Annuil wants his brother to pay for creating Biolarity. He hates the humans and wants them to burn under the sun’s bloated rays. He deceives Essuel and follows him, destroying all that he has worked so hard to create.

I am hoping that as the story ends just as the tale begins that I leave the reader longing to read the next installment. By the end of this book the reader begins to question Essuel’s true motive for creating the starseed humans. Annuil begins to appear to have Earth’s best interest at hand. He will free the starseeds and return the universe to balance but at the cost of the humans. There must be a sacrifice, and the reader is left hanging with uncertainty of who should be the savior. Was Biolarity created to save the humans, or lead them further into their life of slavery and into Essuel’s ultimate plan of destruction.
Throughout the story I have created memories of the characters that give the reader reasons to feel empathy for each character and can see both sides of the story. There are many supportive characters that lead the reader into flashbacks through thoughts and an exciting story line that lends the reader to want more. My hope is that the reader will feel torn between wanting Genue to defeat Sathe, but at the same time feel compassion for his own journey in this world as a monster.
